Dr. Mouza Alshehhi

Dr. Mouza Alshehhi serves as the Director of the UN Women Liaison Office for the GCC, where she leads regional initiatives advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Since assuming this role, she has played a key part in strengthening partnerships between governments, international organizations, and stakeholders to promote inclusive policies, women’s leadership, and sustainable development across the region.

Prior to joining UN Women, Dr. Alshehhi served as Senior Adviser and International Representative at the UAE’s General Women’s Union, representing the country in global and regional platforms including the United Nations, Arab League, and GCC forums. She also held leadership responsibilities as Acting CEO of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Sports Academy in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Alshehhi began her professional career in medicine and defence, serving as a Lieutenant Colonel within the UAE Armed Forces National Service and Reserve Authority, where she established the Physical Readiness Department and Sports Medicine Wing. Her multidisciplinary expertise spans healthcare, sports medicine, public policy, and international cooperation.

She holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Arabian Gulf University and postgraduate and doctoral qualifications in Sports Medicine from Queen Mary University of London, reflecting her strong commitment to research, leadership, and global development.
